D6 is shorthand for Deuteronomy 6 specifically verses 4-9:
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."
This passage of scripture along with others in the Bible teach us that God didn't intend for us to coast through parenting. He meant for us to intentional about teaching our children about God and how they can follow Him. Ultimately this is about parents discipling their children to follow Christ.
At Fellowship, we want to partner with parents and help them on this journey through childhood and teenage years. We want to encourage and support parents as they strive to daily impress the truths of God's Word into the hearts of their children.
Growing through the Rings of Fellowship
The idea behind the Rings of Fellowship comes from a tree. Many of us know that you tell how old a tree is by how many rings it has. With that thought in mind, we want our young people to grow into Life in Christ. Most children go through all of these different stages in life. We want to provide parents with the tools that they need to teach their children the essential truths needed for that stage of growth in their life. We also want to partner with parents and help reinforce their teaching through youth programs such as retreats, lock-ins, and other special services.
